V-RALLY 4

As a vehicle artist for V-Rally 4, I have been involved in different processes, from concept art to modeling parts (lightpods, wheels) and texturing. I was also a level builder on the kenyan rally track. Here are some of my works.

During preproduction I was asked to compose and present some concepts designs for car liveries. Members of the team including myself then painted them on the 3D models that ended up in the game (some of the unused concepts can be seen in the background).

With the help of our Texture Artist, Jean-Baptiste Drouet, I developed a Substance Material to create tire threads quickly and efficiently for our vehicle artists. This tool was incorporated in our workflow for almost all tires in-game.

As the level design evolved during production, I worked as a level builder to update the track Kenya with new areas (mostly the "marshes" and the "rift" parts) and a bit of polish where needed (as in the village).

The track was divided in three parts: the dry savanna, the jungle and the marsh. I mainly worked on the two latter.

The marshes were a bit of a challenge because I was asked to place large bodies of water on a slope and try to keep it as natural as possible.

The layout changed a lot in the village area and large portions had to be rebuilt around the new track.

The dried riverbed (aka the Rift) was one of the new portions I was in charge of.
