3D Printed Penholder

In winter 2018 I took part in Christophe Thuillier's 3D printing workshops in Vierzon, learning the basics of photogrammetry, 3D scanning and printing, while teaching 3D sculpt myself. The portrait was made in two days from a scan that I had to reconstruct partially; the idea of the pencil holder came along the way. The printing of the model (PLA) lasted about 14 hours.

(Decimated version made only for the viewer, without retopology or UV. The original mesh had more than 1.3 millions triangles)

The original photoscan, thanks to Jean-Marc for lending us his face!

The first prototype failed because the supports did not generate correctly under his left hand, which caused a slight collapse and partially interrupted the printing. The last one was much more successful but unfortunately I didn't take pictures of it.
